Basic and Digest Authentication InteroperabilitySince the isapi authentication filter accepts both basic and digest authentication methods it satisfies the needs of users with older browsers and users who want the security of advanced encryption based authentication methods. Irrespective of the authentication method employed, user information is stored in a common user information store implemented on a standard sql database. Additionally, performance is optimised and database load minimised by using an intermediate caching in memory resident database. Between reboots, the in memory database is populated from the permanent user database on demand as users login.
