Standard SQL StorageThe authentication system employs industry standard SQL databases for data persistence of user information used in authentication and authorization. Sites may elect to use Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, or Oracle without affecting the functionality of the system. Developers integrate the sites membership management using tools, mechanisms and interfaces they are already familiar with. The authentication system interfaces with the resulting information using stored procedures with a specification that is common to all vendor implementations.
